Simply me, a Swede in LA

It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don't say it.

Who would have thought?

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie do drugs??? Personally, I am completely shocked! Shocked I tell ya! I thought they were perfect angels!

Supermodels at night...

A few days ago I wrote an entry on Heidi Klum without makeup, now, she didn't look too hot there but look at these pics:

The first person that came to my mind was Keri Russel, she looks pretty and young I think!
Then take a look at one of my favourite models, Gisele Bundchen,

Without all the makeup, I think her skin looks old and you can clearly see what smoking has done to her skin and lips!

What do you guys think?

2 Prince Charming in one day? I shouldn't...

...being married and all, but he's just too cute!

Prince Charming, soon in a city near me :)

Famous photographer Annie Leibovitz has done it again, a masterpiece!
She's taken pics of celebrities as Disney characters and first out is the Prince Charming of our hearts, David Beckham! *Yu-um*

She has also made Scarlett Johansson into Cinderella, Beyoncé into Alice in Wonderland and will continue doing other characters such as Peter Pan, Tinkerbell and the Little Mermaid!

The first pics will be featured in magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, W, GQ, Conde Nast Traveller, Cookie and The New Yorker starting in March and as a huge Disney fan, I'm really looking forward to it!

Oh the shopping...

I've been on the lazy side with showing my shopping findings for the last few months so here are a few of them :)

Red clutch (ASOS), very well used during winter parties :)

Beautiful red satin peep toe heels, bought at KG in London.

Juicy Couture flip-flops with bows and chains, so comfy when you're standing up and running all day!

One of my clear favourites! A royal blue shirtdress from Sanctuary, will be so pretty with a bit of tan this summer!

Well, Zara was having their big xmas sale and I decided to buy 2 dresses that I'd been looking at for several months, one of the I handed straight to my tailor to fix the sleeves (I'll show it later), but here's the other one, beautiful dove-blue colour with crystals.

ASOS again! Perfect LBD for summer, ties at shoulders and a poofy skirt, love it!

Another ASOS sale find, striped comfy summer dress :)

My pretty DvF dress came while I was in Sweden, gorgeous red thick silk w/ white polkadots, puff-sleeves and pockets...aaahh

My bikini this year: This wonderful Michael Kors! Love the colour and the gold details :)

Summer and spring is indeed getting closer so the other day I popped by Wet Seal and picked up these little pieces: A red eyelet top and white shorts and...

...A blue, loose fitting top with lemon/white neckstrap and pockets!

When this gorgeous dress showed up on ASOS I snapped it as quick as I could! It reminds me of a Versace-top I wanted a few years ago and it has a gold chain around the neck. Preeetty...

And of course, you can't just order ONE thing from ASOS, so I threw in this beauty that I've been looking at for a while, ever since I saw a similar one on Kate Hudson last summer...

On a lighter note...

...my manager said their gonna promote me! Aaand, get me another raise! It'll be the second raise in less than 5 months so I'm happy :)

Music of the day

There are some days when I just start questioning what I'm doing here, today was one of those days, so I just blasted "California" with Phantom Planet in my IPod all the way to work and it just made me feel so much better! I used to listen to that song the year before we moved and to me it represents hopeful dreams and opportunities, and damnit, I'm here to make it happen!!!

He's movin' on ladies

Yup, they've been seen cuddling together on more than one occasion, but if it's any consolation, she never sticks with a guy for too long!

Same but different...

I've written about these MJ babies before but if you don't feel like cashing out $400 for them...

... maybe these AK by Anne Klein will satisfy your craving, for a mere $85!

Golden globes

My co-worker J said something very interesting yesterday: "When I lived in Chicago I would follow the award shows religiously, now I barely glance at style.com the day after..."

I can't help but feeling the same way, when living in Sweden, I would stay up all night watching the Oscars to see the beautiful people dress up in beautiful clothes and who got which award, but now, when the Golden Globes last night happened literally down the street from where we live I didn't even think twice about staying home watching a movie with my husband! Jaded? Naah....

Anyway, just because I didn't see it IRL doesn't mean I don't have an opinion on the dresses :)

Best of GG:

Emily Blunt (seen recently in Devil wears Prada) wears vintage Hervé Léger and looks absolutely gorgeous in it! We will definatley be seeing more of her soon

Angelina is of course wearing St. John (for which she is the poster girl) and I'm not usually a fan of their clothing but I really like the colour and the fall of this dress. Oh, and Brad is actually wearing a suit by Swedish designer J. Lindeberg!

Reese is the absolute winner in my book, normally I'm all for wearing an actual evening gown whenever you have the chance but she really scored right on this time in one of my favourite designs, Nina Ricci!

Ever since they started making dresses, I've been a big fan of Marchesa, and apparently, so is Sienna, love the metallics with white!

Very plain, I know, but I'm still a sucker for the perfect cream-coloured gown...

Lorraine Nicholson has a habit of picking beautiful, simple dresses and she's not about to stop now!

Well, there couldn't be a best if there wasn't a worst, you all knew it was coming:

The worst of GG:

Oh sweet mother, what are you wearing??? I know it's Chanel and god knows they normally know how to make a gown but this cotton-candy-disaster does not deserve to bear their name...

I've never really like Nicolette's style and this dress just doesn't do it for me... It doesn't flatter her, she doesn't flatter the dress, just... NO!

Oh Cameron, we know the break-up has been tough but don't drown your sorrows in tiers of tulle! In theory it might have been a good idea for a gown but it really just doesn't work!
Go home and eat a tub of B&J like the rest of us...

Pics r coming...

... as soon as I can find my camera! It's gonna take me ages to unpack my 2 huge bags from Sweden, but there are some really nice shopping-finds in there... and some birthday-presents for my husband who's turning 28 yrs in less than 2 weeks!

La Lohan does Miu Miu

Like you didn't already know :)
The common opinion (at least in LA) is that Ms. Lohan would rather scare the public away from buying something, rather than attract them, so how does Miu Miu solve this problem? They make her look nothing like Lindsay Lohan! Nice move indeed... She looks like often nude supermodel Karen Elson instead.

I actually like the vibrant colors in this pic, but can you say Photoshop??? The last time Lindsay looked like that was about 2 years ago during the whole lot's-of-coke-and-less-food-period!

Another non-couple in Hollywood-land

We first heard the rumors a couple of weeks ago and now Cameron and Justin confirm they've split up! They did seem like a nice couple and they have been together for about 3 years, but they just didn't seem... right for each other... then again, who am I to judge, I hear that about me and my husband all the time and we are, of course, perfect :)

Now we just have to wait and see if him and Scarlett are gonna be official soon...

Devil wears Prada, but she's not very convincing...

So I just watched "The Devil Wears Prada" (I know, I'm so late!) and I have to agree with most reviews I've read, it didn't live up to my expactations... I love Ms Bambi-eyes Anne Hathaway
and Simon Baker was made for the part as the spoiled yet smart writer Christian (plus he also completely reminds me of a friend of mine from Sweden, I'm sure you heard that plenty of times, J!)

I'm a big fan of the book (Lauren Weisberger's language is brilliant!) and of course I realized they were gonna have to cut out some parts of it to not make the movie too complicated, I can even sorta understand why they changed Lily's and and Nate's (Adrien is so cut out for that part!) professions (uumm...why did they have to change his name??? Does it really make that much of a difference if he's called Nate or Alex??? They only say his name about 3 times or so...Jeez... All the other characters have the same name as in the book).

But the whole story, I mean besides the whole "life-is-hell-working-for-dragonlady-but-I'm-gonna-do-it-and-neglect-my-family-just-for-now"-thing, nothing is the same! The whole plot of the book is gone! The most disappointing thing is when Andie quits, in the book, that's a big deal, you notice it, she tells Miranda to go to hell and we love her for it, but in the movie she silently slips out of the car and walks away....Ooooh, drama!!!
And, on top of it all, Anna Wintour, oops I mean Miranda, is...human! She almost cries for f**k sake! Other than that I think Meryl Streep does the part very well, just a little colder would have been good...

All in all: I'd give it a 3/5

Finally!

God, I completely couldn't access my blog at all in Sweden, sooo frustrating! But I'm back now people! Haha :)
