Simply me, a Swede in LA

It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and then don't say it.

They're mine :)

Yes, they're finally mine! For so long, everybody have been talking about DuWop gloss and since I'm a lipglossoholic, of course I've been curious but stupid Sephora on 3rd street only carries the lip venom so i've never actually seen the gloss and been able to figure out what color I want.

Well, now I bought "Butterfly Kisses" which has Lantana, Buttercup and Tulip so that I can figure out which one I want to buy the full size of.
I tried Lantana today and I LOVE IT, yup, I think I'm hooked :)

Finally here!

Now that I'm here, it WAS worth all the work, but it cost a lot of money.... It's pretty easy to get a job here and Swedes has a reputation of being hardworking and on time :)
I work in a clothing store, Happy Six (that I have a link to), and it's a lot of fun especially when we buy new things for the store and you get to see all the stuff that aren't actually out on the market yet and my sister-in-law is a designer so going to fashionshows and expos are common too :)

The journey to Los Angeles

The reason we ended up moving to LA (even though we both love Sweden) is partially because my husbands family is here and well, I love to travel and have always wanted to live abroad so in October last year we packed our bags and left for the States. Not quite as simple as it sounds, I can assure you...

The work started last winter when we started looking for ways for me to get in to USA, it is sooo difficult, I'll tell you that! The easiest way seemed to be getting married, now don't get this wrong: We love each other and would have gotten married anyway, just maybe not so early. But even as husband and wife it's really hard, I went through months of forms to fill in, trips and interviews at the embassy in Stockholm, doctors exams at the embassy's special doctor, x-rays, more forms to fill in, DNA and fingerprints were taken etc.

Note that this is to get a greencard which allows me to work, go to school or whatever I want to do here in the US, BUT if I mess up (commit a crime) they can take my greencard away and ban me from ever coming back (trust me, they make sure to let you know that THEY have the power). I also have to carry my greencard everywhere I go, otherwise I can get kicked out.

It is however easier to get a student VISA from Sweden, not at all as complicated as what I had to go through.

How I met my husband

Well, it all started almost 5 years ago around September 11 when I started chatting with an American guy on Lunarstorm (yes, I know), we talked about how awful 9/11 was and everything else. After a few months of chatting I got a phonecall, it was him calling, saying he was in Sweden! He'd gotten a job in Gothenburg and was now looking for an apartment. Whoa, suddenly things happened very fast, I mean I wasn't really counting on ever meeting this guy, but I agreed to meet him for "fika" (seriously, there's really no good English word) and the first time we met, we went to a cafe and spoke for 7 hours straight! After that we were friends for a few months before becoming a couple in January 2002, even though his friends told him to stay away from me cause I was so much younger than him. Then we got married in July last summer and are still truly newlyweds and best friends :) Love you, H!

Me?

It seems like you guys actually want to know more about...me.

Alright, so far I've been a bit doubtful about putting up pics of myself on the blog but maybe some outfit pictures could do :)

Language?

Does it bother anybody that I'm writing in English?

Haircut mishap

I didn't actually get my haircut today, so I guess that gives me a few more days to figure out how I want it. Anyway, this is what happened: About half an hour before my appointment I started feeling sick and my stomach was really hurting, but I thought it'd be ok so I decided to go anyway, but during the walk to the hair salon I got worse and by the time I got there it felt like I had no blood in my head at all and I was just feeling really ill, like I was gonna pass out any second so all I could do was call a taxi to take me home again. Yes, it sucks, I don't wanna waste my money on a taxi (esp. not one that drove the wrong way 3 times before making it to my door!) and I wouldn't have if I wasn't so sure I wasn't gonna make it halfway home without collapsing...Oh well, haircut next week instead...

Welcome Ebba!

Swedish fashion-guru Ebba von Sydow is coming to my hometown! You think she brought a book to sign for me? I think not... Well, hope you enjoy your visit :)

The point of no return...

Ok, so I booked an appointment at the hairdresser's tomorrow and I still haven't made up my mind! Keep my long hair or make THE change? Also, my normal hairdresser is on maternity-leave so I'm going to see their senior stylist instead and I'm always a bit nervous when going to a new hairdresser for the first time. Well, tomorrow afternoon (when all you Swedes are all deep asleep), my hairs fate is determined. I'll be back with results...

Soo sleepy *zzzzz*

God, I don't know what's happening to me, normally I'm the girl who gets up at noon but for the past couple of weeks I've been waking up at 7 am! That's like, not even in my time schedule! *yawn*. Anyway, the good news are that waking up that early gives me time to go for a morning walk before work :)
